This is a backdated review from my stag do last year.
I had booked a large table for around 16 people and the majority of us had already had a few beers however the restaurant were accommodating and tendered to the group with all the attention we could need. The amazing thing was there didn't seem to be any confusion when the food came out and it all came out within minutes of the previous dish so nobody was waiting around for their meal.
The food was of a high standard and many people commented saying how nice the meal was. Bonus points for dealing with such a large group.

I like them here at Bombay- I agree it doesn't look like much on the outside and fairly classic Indian restaurant on the inside but I'm dairy and wheat free and they always make sure my curry is free from everything ... The staff are friendly and welcoming .. I have noticed the curry i had in the actual restaurant was nicer than the 2 I've had to takeaway since the last one i had was far too oily but i feel comfy enough letting them know and asking for it slightly different next time so definitely worth a try :)

I don't like Bombay cuisine from the outside, but I have to say once your in, and your munching on a perfectly spiced Prawn Balti and a rather delicious Peshwari naan you'll have forgotten any lingering architectural  concerns.

One of the better Curry's I have had in Brighton, though in my experience I have to say that that does not actuall say all that much.

My wife and I ordered some food from here for delivery.

The staff were very friendly on the phone, as was the delivery driver. The food arrived quickly and was piping hot.

Overall, the food was very nicely seasoned and aromatic. However, it was sweeter than most curries. In fact, we both found it too sweet, even dishes like Jalfrezi that are otherwise sour hot.

Would definitely give it another try, but ask them to make the dishes less sweet. It really was pretty extreme.

I always find it a rather brash statement to name a business after say, a capital city or country. It tends to make me think that any humbleness has been pushed to one side, in favour of a braggadocios claim - hey we're such a good Chinese restaurant we've gone for the name China. Simple as. When you want to think of China, come to our restaurant.  So, Bombay is a pretty big statement when it comes to names and although not the be all and end all of Indian restaurants, it's not a bad example at all. There is plenty of choice on Preston Street and the exterior does it no favours, but the interior is nice, the music hilarious (think elevator versions of popular classics - Kissed by a Rose etc.) and the staff are polite and courteous. They are happy to take large groups and I have even booked 60 people in without any fuss. The food, well, the first time I went I had no sense of taste, but the second, I was gleeful that I did - delicious! The only question is, will they keep with the times and change the name to Mumbai?!
